Knoxville, the third largest city in Tennessee, has served as the region's hub since its founding in 1791. It is located in a broad valley between the Cumberland Mountains to the northwest and the Great Smoky Mountains to the southeast. The best of its Appalachian heritage remains today—a strong work ethic, a family-centered community, and an intense respect for the natural beauty that envelopes the region.
The metropolitan Knoxville area was recently ranked the "best place to live in the United States and Canada" among cities with a population of fewer than one million. The results confirmed what most in this area have known for a long time—Knoxville is one of the best cities in the country!
Karns, located half way between Knoxville and Oak Ridge, is the perfect mix of suburban metropolitan living and rural countryside. We are close enough to enjoy all the amenities of a large city but just far enough out of the city limits to "get away from it all."
Our students have often remarked that the school's location near Knoxville helped them make the decision to move here. The schools are great, the cost of living is low, and the quality of life is high. It's a great place to live for both students and their families during their two year stay.
