David Lipe, Ph.D.
Every work we engage in, whether individually or corporately, must glorify God (1 Cor 10:31). Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies, overseen by the elders of the Karns church of Christ and supported by hundreds of congregations and Christians, exists just for that singular reason. When we stop glorifying God we lose our reason for being.
What have we been doing to glorify our God? Glad you asked.
Southeast opened its doors in February 1971 as East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions (ETSPM). That means that our Fall 2013 entrants will be the 43rd full year of classes here. In more than four decades of teaching, training and preparing men to serve the Lord, hundreds of students have completed our course of study. Those men and their families are serving the Lord’s church around the world in both foreign and domestic works, in public preaching, teaching and in personal evangelism.
We want you to know who we are, what we do and why we do it. Browse these pages and get to know our faculty, students and supporters. Our regular faculty (Lipe, Meadows, Jones, Apple, Evans and Howell) have a nearly 200 years of preaching and teaching experience. Our students come from around the nation, and have in the past come from all around the world. Our supporters ... well, they range from large congregations that support our students and staff hundreds of dollars each month to individual Christians that, as part of our 40/40 club, send $40.00 every month. Every contributor, whether large or small, helps us accomplish the Lord’s will to spread the gospel of Christ by training men to work in God’s kingdom.
